[. . . ] Instruction Manual HI 98331 Direct Soil Conductivity & Temperature Meter Dear Customer, Thank you for choosing a Hanna product. This manual will provide you with the necessary information for a correct operation. [. . . ] If the instrument is to be returned to Hanna Instruments, first obtain a Returned Goods Authorization Number from the Customer Service department and then send it with shipment costs prepaid. When shipping any instrument, make sure it is properly packed for complete protection. GENERAL DESCRIPTION HI 98331 is a special pocket meter expressly designed to directly measure soil conductivity. The meter also measures temperature, and the conductivity readings are compensated for temperature with a sensor incorporated in the HI 73331 penetration probe. The probe is interchangeable, and it can be easily replaced by the user. The conductivity range can be calibrated at one point, and the meter has been designed to be calibrated in liquid. In addition, the instrument must be recalibrated whenever: a) The conductivity probe is replaced. Calibration procedure Immerse the tip of the probe in a beaker with HI 70031P 1413 µS/cm solution. The probe should be kept at least 1" from the walls and the bottom of the beaker. [. . . ] To avoid electrical shock, do not use this instrument when voltages at the measurement surface exceed 24 VAC or 60 VDC. To avoid damages or burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens. [. . . ]
